Voilà Distributes Drinking Water in the Emergency Relief Encampments
The Voilà Foundation is making every effort to bring drinking water to thousands of people left homeless by the earthquake. Since February 15, a Voilà Foundation team has been visiting at least two encampments each day to provide food and other life-saving supplies to more than 1,000 people.
Immediately following the disaster, Voilà began providing access to drinking water, distributing food and ensuring broad access to wireless phone service. Voilà installed temporary cell phone towers in the most devastated areas and is using heavy duty excavation equipment to remove the rubble from the sites to make room for the installation of new antennas.
Voilà is offering free phone calling through the Toupatou agents and all Voilà customers received a service credit worth 50 HTG for their phones to ensure that they would be able to reach friends and family. Thousands of phones, along with free minutes, have been distributed to enable the relief organizations and the Government to be much more efficient in helping the disaster victims. Voilà’s technicians and staff are working round the clock to continue to ensure fully operational service.
